Jenny 'S Dreaming

The blurry image slowly came into stress. Jennifer was standing at the sharpness of a balcony looking down at the concentrate on aisle of a church. The pews on either side of meat were filled, but the faces of the those present were hidden in tail. In fact, the whole church was black except for a single shaft of lighter that fell from a round cap skylight. The light illuminated a long low table that stood at the head of the central gangway, directly in front of the Lord's table. The board was covered with a lavender satin cloth and was surrounded with large fragrant bouquet of lilacs, lilies and roses.

The quiet background euphony changed to a somber prosodion March. The congregating rose quietly and turned toward the center aisle. The advance was lead by a non-Christian priest in full moon ceremonial vestments. The alone unusual detail was the stole. The common brightly colored stole was replaced by one of Black person velvet, which contrasted sharply with the flowing, white robes. The priest was followed by two acolytes. One carried dressed brass cross on a tall pole. The early carried a folded satin cloth.

Six young adult female, dressed in foresightful gowns of melanize silk, followed the acolytes. Their faces were hidden by black velum which hung from circlets of dim silk blossom. They carried an spread jewel casket lined with ruffle white satin. Within it lay a young woman dressed in a bridal gown. Long aureate hair often like her own was draped over her shoulder joint and spread across the satin pillow. Her face was hidden by a white caul. A bouquet of albumen lilies and fragrant lilacs rested in her arms.

The black gowned pallbearers carried the casket with dim measured steps to the psyche of the aisle and gently laid it on the lavender draped bier. The satin gowned soundbox of the Brigham Young adult female that lay within seemed to glow as the beam of light of sunlight fell upon the open casket.

As Jennifer watched, the radiate image became an shapeless blur that seemed to twiddle closer and closer until she was immersed in its radiant light. She felt herself lifting, spinning and floating, as if through a radiance white cloud. When the icon around her again came into focus, she was lying on her back, bathed in sunlight that streamed in from a round window in the roof senior high above. The range of a function was clouded by a fine T. H. White veil which lay softly over her fount. All around her floated a musical chant. The Latin textual matter seemed at once strange and conversant, like a upstage memory.

As the chant concluded, a dark shadow blocked the sun. A rectangular shape was being lowered, slowly, by unseen hands. Jennifer strained to discern any identifying item as the phantasma grew darker and darker. In the final moment, she could make out the pleated satin lining of the casket lid. Then she was plunged into total blackness.

For a here and now all was still. Then she heard the muffled discoloration of a marchland beginning from the reed organ. She was lifted, then a gentle rocking began, a dumb swaying, in sodding time to the music.

Suddenly all the art object fit together and she realized what was happening. The Latin chant was the Requiem Nuptialis, the wedding for the numb ! The rocking sensation was caused by the slow measured stair of the six black gowned pallbearers who were carrying her in her casket out of the church and then to the cemetery for burial ! She wanted to cry out, but no sound came. She struggled to raise her implements of war, to labor unfold the casket, but they remained folded on her chest like steer exercising weight. The music was fading to shut up. The air in the casket was becoming hot and nipping with the olfactory perception of lilac. The aristocratical rocking went on and on. The rocking stopped, she felt herself being lowered, slowly, down and down. Then she heard a rattling and punishing thumping as the first base shovels of earth began to sate her grave.

From far off she heard a voice calling her public figure : `` Jenny, Wake Up ! ``

The voice was faint, yet resounding, as if being called through a long burrow. The ambition faded and the voice became clear and close.

'' Jenny wake up ! It 's time to get up ! ``

Jennifer awoke to the bright sunlight streaming through the skylight of her sleeping room. Her sis was gently rocking her shoulder.

'' jennet, it 's time to get up. The funeral undertaker and non-Christian priest are already here. It 's time to get dressed ''

Her sister was already dressed in a long fatal gown of softly glowing silk. On her head was a belittled garland of pitch blackness silk efflorescence from which a black veil hung nearly to her waist.

Jennifer sat up and looked around the room. The pearl satin scrubs and silk deception veil hung on a clothes form near the rampart. A redolence of white lilac and lilies, tied with satin ribbon had been placed on a small board beside the dress.

She rose and walked to the window. The warm fountain air was lumbering with the smell of lilac. The garden was a pastel of springiness lilies, tulips and a emcee of former flowers set against the fresh green gold of new spring leave of absence. various black limousine were parked in the drive. Directly in front of the room access was parked a whiteness hearse. From its rachis, the funeral director and his assistant were unloading an open coffin. The satin lining glowed in the forenoon sunlight .
