The cold and unforgiving dark of blank space can be a strong mistress when searching for something. It had been two workweek

`` I 'm sorry E, '' Derrick apologized, `` I almost destroyed you, Damn it ! I 'm no finisher to unlocking all of your
independent systems than I was. ``

`` No Derrick, '' E softly stated, `` you have accomplished far More than you think. The 30 you have disabled
have opened me Thomas More than either of us at initiatory thought. It appears that normally, any tampering like you were doing
would have caused prompt death. ``
`` Yes E but, '' Derrick started `` problem is the computer program, the statement and all the sub-routines are almost monovular, I

Derrick spent another 2 days looking over the programs he 'd disabled, and what he could of the one that had

Not too soon after this Derrick began to see a numeric pattern in the location of the limiting program.
Yes ! It appeared the deeper he went the more the radiation diagram held up, but knowing those paranoid men back then it might
just be an attempt to fool anyone to get this far.
`` Derrick, '' E said breaking into his reflection, `` I 've finished analyzing the signature tune of the one program, I believe

Derrick was taken aback, me ? A fucking royal ? Then again it did make up a lot of common sense, both his don and

`` Hmmm interesting, strange that such a tumid force out was lost outside the confines of the galaxy. Have you
located the brain box ? '' Asked Derrick ?

Jumping up Derrick started to run, then was suddenly on the hanger bay.
`` Report E, '' Derrick ordered.

Sobering, E tried to answer calmly, `` I was finally capable to inculcate the box with sufficiency energy to slowly depart
regrowth and re-gen. ''
`` Have you determined which unit it is ? '' Derrick asked.

The rest of the calendar week Derrick checked on the ship every day, it was growing very slowly indeed. Derrick
continued to look through the records from 0999. It was as he had feared, the deeper he got the angrier he got. All
the lie, the deception that had lead to the devastation of all these beautiful and glorious ships. He 'd been also
working on a way to boost the detection signal more when E broke into his thoughts.
`` Derrick, you ordered me to advise you when 0098 was conscious, '' E called.
`` Alright E,"seconds later he was on the hanger, shaking his point he knew E was excited.

battle manoeuvre, and tactical, '' The voice replied.
`` I can ply you with the last two, the first I am afraid may be permanently gone, '' E offered.

`` Thank you 0101, are there any others ? '' the voice asked.
`` At nowadays there are only you, me and 0999, '' E said sadly.
Sighing 0998 replied, `` Only 3 of the greatest battle fleet ever made left, it is a shame. ``
`` There was only me, had my select not found me, then both of you then there would still only be me, '' E joyfully said.
`` He found us ? But we are undetectable ! Truly your prime is a glorious humanoid, '' 0098 stated.

Derrick began to redden he was smart sure but brilliant ? No, far from it ! `` I do n't think brilliant is an
accurate description of me, '' laughed Derrick.
`` Yes Derrick, '' E broke in, `` for over 1000 old age no race no ... one has ever been able to detect us. At least not while
we are shut down. ``
`` I agree, '' chipped in 0098.
`` As do I, '' added 0999.

Why were the A.I. 's so surprised it was just metal detecting equipment he 'd developed years ago, nothing
brilliant there ?
`` Look you three I am just an ex-soldier and programmer, not some god or Savior. '' Replied Derrick.
Derrick remained still for the following hour watching as the new ship grew. Although it appeared that the brain box had
sustained more legal injury than 0999 's, 098 had retained an telling amount of its data and personality.
Derrick went back to the records to finish up up on 0999 's records.

Much as E had predicted it took a hebdomad longer to regrow 0098 and the surrounding ship. Only a few twenty-four hour period into

The residuum of the week Derrick again worked on the limiting syllabus in the master computing machine of E, he 'd just
finished with the fortieth when E called.
`` Derrick 0098 is finally impregnable enough and has her own baron now, she should be able to stop herself in a few
daylight. '' E said more excited.

guilty.

stated.
Derrick only nodded as he opened the first datum port and looked over the number one 30 political platform, hmmm they were exact
almost to a fault he 'd just finished the world-class 20 when an alarm went off. Scrambling out he rushed to the bidding
chair, '' report 0999, '' Derrick ordered.
`` It appears that the lowly fleet we detected earlier has turned more in our focusing, I believe we were detected and

`` The fleet will reach penetration of the galaxy 's edge in 5 days a full day before 0098 is regrown. It
appears that she will give hyper engine and 90 % of all her systems, I am afraid that 90 % of her weapon system will be off
assembly line as will be her trans-warp locomotive engine. '' E reported.
Dammit ! Derrick started going through every scenario he could think of, perdition they had been there one-half way to the next
wandflower he should experience tried to mine the surface area are something damn it !
`` E ? Do we give farsighted range weapons ? Some that might slow them down, maybe take a few of them before they reach here ? '' Derrick asked.

Derrick could commend the massive death some of the weapons they had used in the war for what was left

hoped his speech worked as he was going to need E 's help soon if this was going to work.

surprise.

prudent if we have some in book binding up, '' Derrick told 0999.

`` 0098, delight keep us advised of your growth progress ; increase your luminosity shield as soon as it is possible. '' Derrick
ordered.
`` Yes primary feather, I will try to increase my growth pace, my space capsule is fully repaired so a 20 % increase in re-gen is
possible, '' 0098 replied.

`` E, I need to finish with the adjustments on 0999, '' 2 seconds later he was again on the bridge of 0999,
`` Alright 0999, now I can finish up what I started. '' An hour later Derrick was finished. `` Are your programs less circumscribed ?
The holographic man paused a moment, then turned to Derrick. `` I am now detecting a 1 % increase in resign will, though
I am afraid that it is still not enough. To integrate the tactical plan you wished to I am afraid that at least
10 % is required. ''
Derrick sighed, that was at least another 360 course of study ( approximative estimate ) that he 'd have to disable, damn, like bang-up,
great, high-flown dad had done some of this. Though from all that Derrick saw the other commander probably would n't
have allowed him on instrument panel anyway. consequence later Derrick was back aboard E, `` While I have time E, I need to go
through as many of the political program as I can, '' Derrick said.

Taking everything he 'd found so far Derrick was finally starting to see slight remainder in the huge
coordination compound syllabus. It almost appeared that every program was the same as it started out but subtly changed more and
More as it got deeper into it. Sighing Derrick started to finally run deeper into the heart of E 's political platform, from
what he saw the master copy coder really had been paranoid, making the A.I. equipped with them a practical hard worker.
He 'd just started to see at her personality programme when he received a thin blow, `` OW ! '' Derrick yelled. `` E ? What
was that ? ``

sweetly while Derrick rubbed his slightly burned hand.

For the succeeding 3 time of day Derrick worked without stopping, he had to get these tinker's dam blockage off or they 'd be
vulnerable to almost any attack. Then there was another problem, though he was certain they had n't noticed, he had a
feeling both A.I 's were following his every move, though not bad Derrick was just a bit shaken thinking they had as
much ascendancy as they did, with the emotions they had.
`` Al right hand E, '' Derrick said closing the access panel, `` analyse total of unlimited personality political program. ``
`` Yes Derrick, analyzing now, '' E softly said. `` I am detecting 3 % more of my personality curriculum are no longer
limited. ``
`` How is it ? '' Derrick asked.
`` It ... Is hard to describe I ... some things are easier now not much but some, '' E hesitated.
Hmmm Derrick thought 4 % tally no easily uncloudedness, damn it 3 time of day and only 3 % ! At least the programme were staring to
look different now.

The adjacent day Derrick had just awoken when E advised him that 0999 was calling.
`` primary election, I have checked and re-checked both thermal missiles, all the settings are as you wished, though I am not
sure of how you can deliver them as close as you wish to be. '' 0999 advised.
`` I have an musical theme for that 0999 but have to run a simulation first, then we 'll know it works. '' Derrick replied
though it seemed a chiliad ideas were swirling around in his brain. `` E, I need to run a simulation, here are the
condition and all known divisor. '' Derrick laid a pocket-sized comp that he used on a scan console. `` Now then, here is the
design I have, I need you to run every scenario that you can, if it can go wrong I want to make out so I can avoid it. ``
`` Yes Derrick, '' E 's hologram smiled, felicitous that Derrick was starting to trust her.

It was well over an minute later that E called Derrick to catch all the results that it had gotten.
`` I have run 1,976 potential scenarios, '' E started, `` in over 22.8 % of them if you take a more aggressive stance we will

Finally a few days later, with only a few hours remaining Derrick decided it was finally prison term. He had
installed both missiles, disabled 2 % more of the terminus ad quem on E 's personality, made sure all its carapace were at wide,
and had made sure that 0999 would be able to provide protection for 0098.
`` Remember, we have to deliver them then get the hell out of there. '' Derrick reminded E. Sighing he knew this was
dangerous the extreme heat of the missiles alone, could demolish E as if she was n't there. Once again Derrick checked
everything then pausing only a import went through everything a tertiary time.
`` Alright E, '' Derrick started, `` It 's time remember in and out as fast as possible. ``
`` I wish to say Derrick, that I still have to counsel you under regulating that this has too with child a luck to fail, ''
E replied.
`` Your weighing is taken in to account, '' Derrick said above the whine of the trans-slip engines.

Derrick could see the blast starting to emerge damn it ! They were nowhere near far enough away. `` Shut everything
down except shield. '' Derrick shouted.
`` I already have Derrick, '' E started, `` I am sorry I failed with the mission. ``
